Scott Heidenreich from the Ohio EPA sent us the message attached below about C&DD Landfill dumping fees. It sounds like Governor Ted Strickland put a freeze on any new fees imposed by state agencies. Before this happened, the Ohio EPA tried to increase the landfill fees, and we do not know if they will try again after the Governor Strickland lifts the ban.
If anyone would like to send Scott a question, his e-mail address is at the bottom of the note.
The April 30th meeting in Columbus that he referred to is about discussing landfill rules. A representative from CALL, GUARD, HELP, and OLC will go to that meeting to find out if we can exert any influence to make the C&DD Landfill rules stiffer, or at least keep what we have now according to House Bill 397. The people who attend will participate with the Ohio EPA Division of Solid and Infectious Waste Management Workgroup to fit HB 397 and 432 into Chapter 400.

...............................
Deb, Lauraine, and Richard,
I just wanted to give you a heads up about an item in the budget that
may be of interest to you. To be consistent with Governor
Strickland’s fiscal directive that state agencies not impose any
new fees, Ohio EPA is withdrawing its proposed rule (3745-520-50) that
would have levied an additional fee on disposal of construction and
demolition debris. Ohio EPA’s public hearing on the proposed rule,
which would have been on Monday, March 19, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., at Ohio
EPA’s headquarters, is cancelled. No further action will be taken on
this matter until further notice.
That's all the information I have about this.
This doesn't affect our April 30th meeting about reorganizing Chapter
400. See you then.
Scott
