Excerpts from June 18th GUARD Meeting

Bike Trail – R. Natoli said that the railroad lawyers (at the June 5th hearing) proclaimed they owned the land where the Bike Trail is going North of the Girard parcel. Lily Martuccio replied that the Weathersfield property is owned by the railroad, but Niles owns the land where their trail will be installed.

REACH needs startup funds – Natoli briefed the group on the status of the new REACH coalition of four area landfills. They are in need of startup funds, and they are asking each group to contribute. The GUARD members present thought it was all right to loan the money, and when REACH has their first fundraiser, they could pay them back. The GUARD members felt that all four-coalition members should contribute equally; all of the burden should not be on GUARD.

REACH may be at the Trumbull County Fair – REACH is trying to reserve a booth at the fair, which will be held the second week in July from the 10th until the 15th. If they are able to get the booth, volunteers will be needed. Natoli asked the GUARD members present to think about donating 2 to 4 hours of time helping out in the REACH booth.
