Successful Girard Ohio Fundraiser

G.U.A.R.D. (Girard United Against Ruinous Dumping) had a very successful fund raiser on March 29, 2009. GUARD has been very active in keeping local residents aware of the potential dangers associated with the addition of a second construction and demolition debris (C&DD) dump site proposed for the north side of town. A second C&DD Landfill (one is currently located on the south side of town) would be dangerously close to residential areas of the city and would expose residents and visitors to dangerous air pollutants and potentially contaminate our water streams and habitat. It would also impact the value of property in the city of Girard and make living in our community one of the least desirious in the Mahoning valley.

Help us fight this second proposed dump site by writing your state Senator Capri Cafaro and US Congressman Tim Ryan and voicing your concerns by attending our Girard City Council Meetings every second and fourth Monday of each month. Girard does not need more dump sites!
