Town Hall Meeting June 4, 2009

GUARD, OHEJ, & REACH Members,
Eastgate member James Pirko informed us at last weeks REACH meeting that the Citizen's Advisory Board of the Eastgate Council of Governments will sponsor a Town Hall Meeting focusing on environmental justice issues. The meeting will be held on June 4th at the City Centre One Building in downtown Youngstown at 7:00 PM.

It will be an an excellent opportunity to review and discuss the Ohioan's for Health, Environment, and Justice's (OHEJ's) pending legislation. Ohio State Representative Tracy Hurd inserted the OHEJ legislation into the Ohio budget bill. That bill has to pass through the Ohio House of Representatives, the Senate, and the Conference Committee for approval. Opposition is expected from the coal lobbyists.

Members of local activist groups such as GUARD and HELP will also discuss their continuing fights against locating C&DD landfills near populated areas.
